WTV Awards at Waterloo House - Farewell Dinner for
the Matrics of 2001
8 October 2001 was a "Night of Fame" for the Matriculants of of Waterloo House.
"And the person-who-laughed-the-best award goes to..."
For almost a year, the Grade Elevens of Waterloo House have organised and committed
themselves to the glamorous "Night of Fame" evening held for the Matriculant
Hostel girls. The theme of the evening varies from year to year, and this year, the theme
was 'WTV Awards Evening'. It has traditionally been a formal occasion which is planned and
prepared by the Grade Elevens. Although billed as a night to celebrate, it was also a
night to say our good-byes...
These were some of the scenes from that
happy occasion
The Hostel Matrics of 2001 have been wonderful: their smiles, jokes and friendship will
never be forgotten (especially Jessica Smith's detention slips!) And sadly, it was their
time to leave Waterloo House, which has been home for some of them since Grade Eight. We
also said goodbye to Lara van Niekerk in Grade Eleven, who is leaving to study in
England.Despite the sadness, the night was also filled with much fun and laughter. After
supper, there was dancing, and a number of entertaining skits performed by the Grade
Eights. Every hostel girl was given an award for their different talents and personality
traits.
Grateful thanks and our commendation are extended to the Grade Elevens for a wonderful
evening.
