It was a very closely contested competition this year and anybody's guess who the winning House would be. The Cup is awarded at the end of each term, and, at the end of the year, all of the points are added up to determine the final winner. The
points earned by the winner of the cup at the end of the year are the result of all of the Interhouse Events (the interhouse gala, sports day, hockey, and netball, singing and spirit points that are part of this) and the numeous challenges that
have taken place during the year (the pencil, the sweet, the Easter Egg, the collection of money and tins of food for animals, Leap Frog,
and Limbo Dancing challenges.) In addition, points are awarded for
participation and achievements academically, culturally, for service to the school and community and for achievements on the sports field.
It was not until the final assembly that anybody knew who the winners
would be. There had been dark hints that those who were sitting in the upper gallery
(the place of pride) should not get too complacent, and that they may well find themselves
displaced. But this term it was not to be. After numerous challenges and interhouse events, Apsley House took the honours! What a fabulous final present it was
for Ms B - head of Apsley House in 2005 - and a fantastic reason to invite her back in the new year to celebrate our achievement early in the year in 2006!!
Congratulations to all Apsleyians who contributed to the victory of this house. In the words of Tina Turner, you're
Simply the Best! |
