A Charitable Cause - Friday 24 January

Charity monitor training was held in the new life skills room by Mrs. Hartmann. The electing of charity monitors is done by the class, who selects one girl for the job. The role of a charity monitor is primarily to take the hard earned cash out of your pocket and give it to someone far more deserving. But otherwise, as the name implies, it is to monitor, organise and motivate charity functions. Such functions include cake sales, civvies days and fund-raising issues for which monitors must liaise with the P.A. for events such as the Arts Festival to be held at the end of this term. Monitors must also ensure that the soon-to-be-enforced recycle bins are used properly and emptied, and are expected to organise a charity that the grade will support.

Wynberg has a reputation for being very open-handed and sensitive to the needs of those less fortunate than themselves. It is the responsibility of the charity monitor to encourage, support and uphold this charitable spirit.

The honour of being elected charity monitor is in itself enough to make one willing to dig deep into one's pockets and give away that hard-earned cash. A charitable cause, indeed.
