Synchronized Swimming

Girls receive instruction covering general swimming fitness and synchro techiniques such as sculling, strokes and stunts. Swimmers also prepare routines to music which they demonstrate at the end of the season with the annual fun interschools event at Newlands Pool. Swimmers with a dance or gymnastic background tend to have more success in this lovely spectator sport. The only expense is the purchase of a nose clip. Practices take place at the school pool. Girls wear black costumes and white caps for figure competitions and decorative costumes and headgear for routine competitions where they swim to music using their own underwater equipment.
