PGSGU Interschools' Swimming Gala

On the 6 March, the Interschools' Swimming Gala was hosted at Newlands Swimming Pool. Competing against seven other schools, Wynberg won the open race and finished third overall. If there had been a cup for spirit, however, there’s absolutely no doubt that we would have taken it. Not only did Wynberg have the most supporters by far; it also had the loudest voice when it came to singing cheers.

Showing its diversity in aquatics, Wynberg was also the only school to present a synchronized swimming demonstration. Opening the proceedings selections from our Zorro routine were combined with Michaela and Lindsay Nevin’s Mandosa duet who, in their bright yellow costumes and African beads, brought the water itself to life.

Huge congratulations must go to all participants and especially Bevin Reynolds who swam for us despite suffering from tonsillitis. They say that water is white gold. Well then, Wynberg knows how best to handle its wealth. It’s rich in talent and skill!
