I work as a investment analyst for a property fund, but studying again, so we will see what life holds after that! I am also into running and run half marathons most weekend - can you believe that - I hated exercise at school!!!! Anyway, the reason for this email, apart from touching base, is to ask/suggest that since next year is our ten years out of school, that we organize a reunion at the end of the year. I am very keen to organize, and I think a few of the other 1994 matrics are as well." In June 2004, these were the arrangements for the reunion "Lisa Buckles and her team of helpers, Hilary Gardner, Lesley Joubert and Ann Nordoff are planning a 1994 Reunion. At this stage a possible reunion date is 29th December 2004. We have received a number of suggestions including a tour of the school to see all the great changes followed by a social evening at a venue still to be decided. The Class of 1994 are asked to contact Lisa Buckles on her new email address lbuckles@pamgolding.co.za We will keep in contact with the school as our planning progresses!" At the moment I am quite happy here but do look forward to returning to Cape Town one day, I can't imagine raising a family without my Mum nearby, I just have to persuade my boyfriend that he wants to live there too. But he's from New Zealand so at the moment I am just trying to break down his hate for the Springboks after the Kiwi loss of the 1995 World Cup. Other than that I do go home quite regularly but you end up with so little time you never see everyone you'd like too. I'd love to hear from any of my old class mates far and near and my old teachers if they have the time. Look forward to hearing from anyone. I joined an inbound tour operator, Into Africa, in December 1996 and worked as a senior travel consultant, dealing with the foreign tourist market, and also got to travel all over South Africa, which was a great perk. I married David Potgieter in January 1999, and we left Cape Town in February 2000 to move to London. We have been living in Wimbledon ever since. Both David and I work in the city - I work as a PA to a team of 8 at Deutsche Asset Management, and David is a supervisor at an Investment Management firm in the West End. I then studied English, as well as Greek and Roman Literature and Thought, at UCT, graduating with an English Honours degree in 1997. After a few months in London, I returned to Cape Town and took a secretarial job while I registered with Unisa for a business degree (completed in 2001). In 1999, I moved to Joburg (which, let the record show, is not at all one of the circles of hell), with my boyfriend Armin whom I met at UCT, and got a job as sub-editor on City Press. After three years there, sub-editing and for a glorious year, doing the film reviews and features, I quit and started freelancing, mostly for The Star. Armin, meanwhile, had moved to London to do a Masters in Communication Design, and when I realised how what a good time he was having without me of course I had to come over and spoil his fun. This required some cunning visa manoeuvres and before I knew what was happening, I was married! So here I am, married in London. I'm working on a weekly business magazine and love my life - long may it continue. Wilkinson Nikki (1992) was delighted to hear about the reunion happening in December.
