"Another former Wynberg Girls' High School gal, now living near Vancouver (Canada),
wrote to me this week that her Wynberg Girls' High School class is having its 50th reunion
next year, and it made me stop and think...I graduated from WGHS in 1953, so this year is
my 50th
anniversary. Regrettably, I no longer have any contacts with anyone from my
class....having been mostly away from RSA since 1960.Miss Aileen Curry was our Principal,
and our paths crossed (very briefly) when I was working in London (in 1960's). I enjoyed
going over the Newsletter, and found it a very different world from the one I knew
"way back then". However, I'm very proud of WGHS, not only for the good
foundation that it gave me, but also how it appears to be thriving today. I still have
(here) my red pin with a
big "W" on it ---for WATERLOO." For those who wish to contact her her

is now Millar.
I was hoping that you have an Old Girls Organisation that keeps track of where the old Girls of the school are at the present time. Shortly after I
left the school my family emigrated to Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia) and for a short time I was still in touch with my best friend at school
named Marie Louise Stephenson nicknamed Maizie. If it is at all possible to get a contact address for her I would be most grateful. I have
retired in the UK but would dearly like to find Maizie if it is at all possible. I heard through the grape-vine that she eventually married and moved
away from her childhood home after her mothers death. She was working in Barclays Bank the last time I had contact with her but do not know
if she stayed in the bank after her marraige and do not know her married name. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
I would also like to say that my education at the school has stood me in very good stead over my life time as the standards set during my
school years and the motto of the school has alwasys been with me all my life. I do not know whether there is still emphasis put on keeping
the motto 'Honour before Honours' or not but I have tried to live by them. They may not be acceptable in todays world-wide ethos but does
certainly help in having no regrets whatever now that I am no longer in the thick of things.Email
