Interhouse Athletics
29 November
Tuesday, 29 November brought with it a glorious day of South African sunshine and temperatures of 30º. It also brought Interhouse Athletics for Wynberg Girls’ High.
Before now, it is a day that has been renamed interhouse
'fun day' because the athletics that takes place is is of a dubious
nature!
It is a day in which house colours are worn, and competition between the eight houses is noticeable. From the Apsolutely Fabulous Apsley girls to bright and bold Wellesley Bumble Bees, all participated in the extraordinary races selected specially for the day. Races such as the
Cleopatra, Balloon and Three-legged races could not fail to attract the attention of our younger sisters from Wynberg Girls’ Junior.
Even in the wilting heat, the spirit of the houses was impressive! Although Wellesley took the honours as the best dressed house, the house with the most points was (arch rival – to all the other houses), Silverlea. A volcanic cheer went up and hot, tired
but cheerful group of girls returned to their classrooms to check their
exam papers!
Grateful thanks are extended to our
teachers for organising yet another fabulous day for us all.
