RCL Civvies Day

After many suggestions for clocks to be put in the classrooms, especially for exams, it was decided the something should be done about it. There were many heated debates on how the money would be raised, but it was eventually decided on, by the RCL, that we would have a casual day with a difference. So, on Tuesday 24 August 2004, the RCL Civvies Day with the theme “Back in Time” was held.

When the announcement of the theme was made, there were enthusiastic and surprised whispers as friends planned and co-ordinated their outfits. Promises of prizes only fueled their enthusiasm.

Finally the day arrived, and there was some confusion as pupils dressed as people from the fifties, sixties, and seventiesentered our front gates. Soon a large crowd, including girls from the Junior School and parents gathered, cheering everyone along. It was evident that it was going to be a tough competition to judge.

During break, the judging took place, and the “Best Dressed” from each grade received a prize. Whether it was awarded for courage or good dress sense, we’ll probably never know, but it was proven that Wynberg Girls have a sense of fun!

It was a day filled with giggles and enjoyed by all. I’m sure everyone wouldn’t mind paying more than R2 to see their friends (and teachers) dressed up like that again!
