At one of the prestigious events during the year, the school had been reminded that there are several key lessons learnt at Nursery School. Some of these are
It is not certain that all of these maxims were applied on that morning, but certainly time time to "sing and dance and play some" not to mention "eat some" had arrived for the staff. There were golfers, and Mother Christmasses, Jackie O's and beans, there were farmers and buttercups and Water (men and women.) and there was a great deal of giggling. At one stage all of the educators in one of the houses disappeared into the cloakroom for their spectacular entrance and song and dance routine. The principal and her deputies, reigning over the houses as Kings and Queens of the proceedings, wore technicoloured robes - to reveal demonstrably their impartiality. And then there were the awards: this year, educators earning house points for their houses were Cavenagh, Apsley and Wellesley. "Best dressed" awards went to Tony Lauff and Daphne Jaaback from Cavenagh, Wellesley was considered the house with the most durable of costumes, and Apsley the house with the most spirit. Sadly, there were a number of demerits given: that walk of shame we will not go down. Rather, the staff concerned should be encouraged to adopt the age-old maxim of "try and try and try again." Donna Miles and Liezel Opperman were marvellous distributors of the gifts. (They are about to learn that, at Wynberg, if you do a job really well, you get it for life!) It was an excellent end of the year party, and a fitting way to end the year! |
