Inside the hall, were the speakers of the evening where they would provide insight into the life of Wynberg from the perspective of a boarder, a day scholar, any one of the four pillars of the educational focus of the schools and an opportunity to think about and meet the teachers of the possible options that they might take in 2004. Whether it was excitement … anxiety … fear … anticipation … readiness that was the dominant mood of the Grade Eights of 2004, all were encouraged to embrace actively and energetically the opportunities that are offered at a school such as Wynberg. They were reminded that the wealth of any school is dependent on the kind of partnership that is struck up between teacher, pupil and parent. They were reminded that they have five short years in which they are invited to join the action — to be doers — to allow the inspiring community that is Wynberg to challenge them, to guide them, to support their growth. As the evening drew to an end in what is undoubtedly one of the favourite places in the school for our students - the tuckshop - the members of this fledgling partnership met over a cup of tea - the first of many connections that will take place between those who applied and were accepted as Wynberg Grade Eights of 2004, their parents and their teachers. |
