CHESS The Chess Club at WGHS has only recently been established and we meet twice a week. On Thursday afternoons from 4:00 - 5:00pm and once a week during a first break alternatively on Mondays and Fridays. Membership is open to pupils all year round to beginners as well as any other interested players. For those who do not make the teams at the beginning of the year, there is the option of becoming a "social member" of the club. Any social member can challenge a team member for a position in the team. A Chess Badge is earned the moment a player makes the team. At present WGHS has 1 team, consisting of 4 players, who play competitive chess matches. We are still awaiting fixtures to participate in the Southern Suburbs School's Chess League. |
