2001 Capstone Camp On 16 March 2001, seventy-five enthusiastic campers and two equally excited teachers arrived at Camp Faraway, Noordhoek, for the annual Wynberg Girls' /Boys' High Schools' Christian Union camp. This year's theme was H.I.M. - History In the Making, and it turned out to be just that: an awesome experience. We enjoyed incredible worship with Jono and Grant, and inspiring sessions led by Terran Williams, the main speaker, and his energetic "Fuel Team", who also joined in with our activities during the afternoon. As well as these sessions, there were rotational games, watersports and general social times, during which there were opportunities to swim, play volleyball, or simply laze in the sun. Many new friendships were formed on camp and, most importantly, we were all encouraged, strengthened and challenged in our faith. We also saw some first time commitments to Jesus and many making the decision to go "all out" for Him. This year's camp ran smoothly, after months of planning and prayer, and for this the committee extends our grateful thanks to Gunther and Sarah Hoppe for all their support, and to the faithful counsellors, first aiders, policewomen and general paramedics - Mrs Hartmann and Mrs Smith. Unfortunately, Sunday arrived far too quickly, but the camp was clearly an enjoyable, uplifting experience which will hopefully set the tone for the rest of the year. Lauren Hartmann |
