Not the bold and the beatiful: the brave and the bold - Wynberg's First
Aiders.
With hockey and netball injuries left, right and centre, it's no wonder Wynberg Girls'
High has started their new First Aid Club.
The criteria needed to become a member includes completement of any level in the First Aid
training course, offered by PEC (Professional Emergency Care). Girls must be utterly
committed, very bold and brave. With some of the injuries on the sports field, its a
wonder why any of the girls are willing to help: this is not something for the
faint-hearted. When we chatted to them, they did say that there is great satisfaction that
the job offers, as well as the knowledge that one gains through the experiences.
Members can be spotted, sporting luminous bibs, at hockey and netball events, whether we
are playing the game at home or away. After they have completed at least ten hours'
service, they receive their well-earned badges. Teacher in charge is Mrs.A Smith, and
First Aid Captain is Megan Ridell accompanied by vice, Keri Sabatta. Members include:
Nicola Wasserfal, Kate Makin, Sara-Jane Opperman and Michell Fourie. For those who are
planning to move into the field of medicine, the ground work begins here!
