In the spirit of the Mother city,
Wynberg celebrates the Arts on 26 March
As the Mother city hikes up her
skirts, slips on her heels and jols big time in the city centre, Wynberg Girls High
too is celebrating the arts with the talented youth of our city. At Wynberg, you
wont need to empty your pockets to appreciate the vibrant, colourful and creative
cultures of our diverse community: its all there to be enjoyed for a mere R10 (or R5
if youre a scholar). So come and celebrate the Arts with Wynberg Girls High!
In an atmosphere akin to a carnival, you can kick up your heels with Kwaito and stomp out
your rhythms with the drummings of African dance and township dancers! You can weave with
the
undulating rhythms of the Marimba Band and listen to the sounds of musicians in the
making. There is dance, drama, and music to be enjoyed in a number of sundowner concerts:
there is the best of British humour to amuse you, brazen buskers and superb saxophonists
to entertain you. In a fusion of styles, young dancers explore Contemporary, Modern and
African movements, and the orchestra, choirs and ensembles will make your spirits soar. |

With spaces and places transformed into
performing venues, debating halls and restaurants, the school will become a veritable city
in which you can move from one performance to another. With repeat performances, and
numerous events taking place simultaneously, there is an explosion of choice, offering
audiences a chance to celebrate just how marvellous it is to be South African.
On 26 March between 18:00 and 21:00, discover with us the uniquely South African: the rich
and varied culture of our great community. Come and sup under the stars with fare provided
by "International" chefs as you are entertained, amused and informed at the
annual Wynberg Girls High Arts Festival.
