Budding Scientists at Wynberg

mvc-365s.jpg (42733 bytes)

We're as pleased as punch with our Science Department, and present our achievers to you:
Mrs Daphne Jaaback - their delighted teacher -  Kelli, Faseegha and Lauren.

At a time when the world is deeply concerned about the gender divide within the Sciences, and when it is pushing to encourage young women to enter the field of Science, three of Wynberg Girls' High Grade 12 students have received honours in this field. Lauren Hartmann came third nationally in the Science Olympiad, and was recently flown up to Johannesburg to attend a ceremony in which she was honoured by Dr Ben Ngubane (MEC Arts, Culture, Science and Technology) for her achievements.

But on 8 May, we received notification from the Royal Society of South Africa which disclosed that Kelli Futter and Faseegha Adams had both received awards for the Scientific essays which they had submitted. Kelli Futter received Third Prize, and Faseegha was given a Merit Award.    The Royal Society of South Africa is a society located within the Science Faculty at UCT and has as its aim "the furtherance of all aspects of science" by recognising "excellence in research and scholarship."

We do commend our budding Scientists!
