Picasso
said this a while ago, and Mrs Harding reminded us of this when she quoted
his words at the Matric Art Exhibition of 2005, and commented that at
Wynberg, we have those who have transformed a yellow spot into the
sun.
Her
sentiments were echoed in the hearts of those who were at the exhibition.
The Art Matriculants of 2005 are fine women, who have given of themselves
bravely this year. The stories, the thoughts the poetry behind the works
displayed revealed just some of it. In just a tiny corner of one
exhibit something of the beginning of journey undergone was expressed in
this way:
While
the evening belonged to our Matriculants, some of the unsung heroes are
the teachers who have accompanied them. One such person is Burt van
Jaarsveld who spoke so warmly, so generously of his 22 students. As just
one of the many people who were able to attend this exhibition, but who
probably was not alone in feeling this, I was deeply moved and reminded of
the fact that there are very few things that are more important than the
encouragement, compassion and understanding of a very good teacher! It was
truly a privilege to have been at the exhibition - all have done well! |
