Afrikaans Olympiade

On Thursday, 27 February, our girls took part in the AFRIKAAN-EN GEBRUIKSAFRUKAANS OLYMPIADE. Sixty to eighty girls from Grades 10 to 12, all English speakers, wrote the Olympiad for up to three hours. It consisted of three hundred and fifty “different” and “challenging” multiple-choice questions.

“It’s a different kind of test, and anything different is always good.” says Mrs Cope, Head of the Afrikaans Department. We usually do quite well in the Olympiad. Last year, a Grade Twelve pupil, Lauren Hartmann, came top in the Western Cape and our school came in the top twenty schools in the country. “I hope this year’s the same.” said Mrs Cope.
